Integration of Kosovo in the EU - RESULTS OF THE NATIONAL SURVEY 2023

October 2023

Integration of Kosovo in the European Union: Perceptions of Kosovar Citizens is the next publication of PIPS, in cooperation with Lëvizja FOL, and with the support of the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Kosovo.

The results of this research/survey sheds light on the perceptions of Kosovar citizens on a number of dimensions of the integration process in the EU. The survey offers interesting findings related to the impressions of Kosovars about the future of their state, the preconceived notion of the EU as an opportunity to improve institutions and the quality of daily life, as a 'promised future', the exact distance of which has not become completely clear.

Through this survey, it is possible to understand the perceptions of where Kosovo currently stands in relation to this political, economic and cultural space, compared to specific sectoral areas, as well as who are the local and international actors with the potential to help or block its European path.

The research was organized in 38 municipalities of Kosovo with 1200 respondents, of which 800 Albanians, 200 Serbs and 200 other minorities.

THIRD MONITORING REPORT: ENERGY STRATEGY OF THE REPUBLIC OF KOSOVO 2022-2031 (Period 2024)

The Energy Strategy of the Republic of Kosovo was approved by the Assembly of Kosovo on March 8, 2023.

This Strategy aims to address current challenges and lay the foundations for a future energy sector that will provide security of supply, clean energy, energy efficiency and active citizen participation. The strategy includes the integration of the electricity system of Kosovo in the regional and pan-European market, with special emphasis on the use of renewable energy sources (RE) and close cooperation with the Republic of Albania.
The Republic of Kosovo is at a key point in the development of its energy sector, guided by the Kosovo Energy Strategy 2022-2031. This strategy serves as a framework towards a sustainable, efficient and reliable energy system that supports the country's economic growth and improves the well-being of its citizens. In this context, PIPS monitors the implementation of the Energy Strategy, and this report is the third in a row. The monitoring report serves as another tool, becoming a comprehensive overview of their progress towards the strategy for the year 2024 (including the year 2023). The report aims to assess the distinct and common challenges throughout the years of implementation of the strategy.
