PIPS held the Seminar on Energy and Environment for Kosovar journalists

20 journalists from prominent Kosovar media attended the Seminar on Energy and Environment, organized by PIPS on 21-23 February.

Through the support of the GIZ Kosovo Project for Energy Efficiency, PIPS gathered experts from key Kosovar energy institutions, the Energy Community, media, as well as experts in environmental engineering and spatial/urban planning with the aim to accurately and fully inform Kosovar journalists on:

-the Energy Community Treaty and Kosovo’s obligations

-the mandate and competencies of Energy Regulatory Office, scope of the Transmission, System and Market Operator and energy independence

-the development of the Kosovo Energy Efficiency Fund

-renewable energy sources and the capacity for their deployment

-current environmental risks, climate chance, related health impacts and sustainable development as well as;

-sustainable environmental and spatial planning

On July 7, the Pristina Institute for Political Studies (PIPS) published the policy analysis "Rationalization of Independent Agencies and Regulators in Kosovo". The analysis drafted after a period of several months of research provides an overview of the current situation of public administration reform, namely the implementation of the rationalization of independent, executive and regulatory agencies.

Discussion and publication of the analysis on the second phase of rationalization of agencies and regulators in Kosovo

On November 25, PIPS published the analysis on the second phase of rationalization of agencies and regulators in Kosovo. Together with representatives from key institutions involved in this reform - the assembly, the ministry of public administration and the agencies we discussed the opportunities for the second phase.

As part of the political priorities agreed between Kosovo and the EU in 2016, for the implementation of the Stabilization and Association Agreement, the implementation of the first phase of this reform has not been completed, and consequently there are delays in the implementation of the second phase, which according to the action plan for the implementation of the whole reform, was intended to be completed by the end of this year.
