Presentation at the Committee for Economic Development, Infrastructure, Trade and Industry

On Wednesday, 14 March 2018, the Executive Director of the Prishtina Institute for Political Studies, Mrs. Leonora Kryeziu gave a presentation at the meeting of the Committee for Economic Development, Infrastructure, Trade and Industry in the Assembly of Kosovo. Mrs. Kryeziu spoke about the GIZ ORF-EE project Regional Cooperation and Capacity Development of Parliamentarians of South-East Europe on Energy Efficiency and Climate Protection. During her presentation Mrs. Kryeziu spoke about the project's future activities, and the engagement with decision-makers in addressing climate change and energy efficiency matters. Mrs. Sala Berisha-Shala ,the chairperson of the Committee, spoke on behalf of the Committee's members to express their willingness and readiness to continue cooperation. Mrs. Berisha-Shala valued highly the initiative, deeming that the Committee needs this cooperation, and welcomes the support for the parliamentarians' capacity-building and the recommendations on energy efficiency policies; which will help the Committee monitor and address relevant matters.

On July 7, the Pristina Institute for Political Studies (PIPS) published the policy analysis "Rationalization of Independent Agencies and Regulators in Kosovo". The analysis drafted after a period of several months of research provides an overview of the current situation of public administration reform, namely the implementation of the rationalization of independent, executive and regulatory agencies.

Discussion and publication of the analysis on the second phase of rationalization of agencies and regulators in Kosovo

On November 25, PIPS published the analysis on the second phase of rationalization of agencies and regulators in Kosovo. Together with representatives from key institutions involved in this reform - the assembly, the ministry of public administration and the agencies we discussed the opportunities for the second phase.

As part of the political priorities agreed between Kosovo and the EU in 2016, for the implementation of the Stabilization and Association Agreement, the implementation of the first phase of this reform has not been completed, and consequently there are delays in the implementation of the second phase, which according to the action plan for the implementation of the whole reform, was intended to be completed by the end of this year.
