Worshop on strengthening the role of NGOs on Energy Efficiency issues

The activity was supported by the GIZ Open Regional Fund for South East Europe- Energy Efficiency in frame of the Public Dialogue on Sustainable Use of Energy project. The project Strengthening the role of NGOs in the public dialogue on energy efficiency and climate protection commenced its third phase today with a workshop which gathered representative of the main NGOs. The NGOs represented were mainly organisations which have worked in this field before or are doing so at the current time. The workshop aim was to discuss the Kosovo situation on Energy Efficiency and the steps to be taken in order to intensify the public dialogue. The workshop introduction was done by PIPS Executive Director Leonora Kryeziu who informed the participants about the project, the PIPS role in it and the coming phases. The first presentation was done by GIZ Kosovo Coordiantor, Avni Sfishta who talked about the economic benefits of a society which builds its architecture with standards of energy effiecency. The second presentation, done by Naser Sahiti, emphasized the necessity of completing the legal framework about this issues. Sahiti also mentioned the local resources which can be used by municipalities by creating particular offices about the energy issues. However at this time this would not be possible according to Kosovo Constitution which does not allow municipalities to raise the number of employers. The third and final presentation was done by the representative of Consumer Organization. Selatin Kaçaniku discussed the need of controlling the products on the market. These products according to him do not benefit the costumers or Energy Efficiency cause and a higher authority in order to deal with it should be created.

On July 7, the Pristina Institute for Political Studies (PIPS) published the policy analysis "Rationalization of Independent Agencies and Regulators in Kosovo". The analysis drafted after a period of several months of research provides an overview of the current situation of public administration reform, namely the implementation of the rationalization of independent, executive and regulatory agencies.

OPEN CALL FOR APPLICATIONS FOR SCHOOL FOR POLITICAL STUDIES 2021

Prishtina School for Political Studies has opened the call for application for the admission of candidates for the nineteenth generation (19).

School for Political Studies is one of the first non-formal political education programs in Kosovo and the oldest program that is still active. School for Political Studies has been implemented by the Prishtina Institute for Political Studies since 2003 through the support of the Council of Europe.

The aim of the program is to promote a new political culture for young leaders in line with the three key principles of the Council of Europe: democracy, rule of law and human rights. Throughout a year 30 participants coming from political parties, media, civil society, public administration etc. have the opportunity to attend modules with lectures from eminent local and international speakers. The program is currently implemented in 22 different countries around the world and graduates are certified by the Council of Europe and the Secretary General of this organization.
